KiBiZ Kinderbetreuung Zug - an institution of the «Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft Zug GGZ» - has been working on a non-profit basis since 1975 to provide needs-based and affordable childcare in the city and municipalities of the canton Zug.
At nine locations KiBiZ provides care for around 280 babies and toddlers up to and including kindergarten in day-care centers (Kitas). An additional 250 childcare places for children from 3 months to 12 years are available in about 80 KiBiZ daycare families.

In daycare centers, care takes place in an institutional context with a large and lively group of children. A day family offers an individualised and flexible care framework that can be tailored precisely to the needs of the parents. The services are often combined, allowing you to benefit from the advantages of both. We would be happy to advise you on finding the right solution for you.
Affordable childcare
Childcare fees in either a KiBiZ day-care centere or with a childminder may be subsidised depending on the municipality and the parent’s income. Childcare vouchers are contributions from municipalities to parent’s and legal guardians who have enrolled their child in a day-care center and who are eligible for benefits. For care in a childminder setting, the subsidy contribution is calculated and processed directly by the KiBiZ office.

Since 1975, the non-profit organisation KiBiZ Kinderbetreuung Zug, strives for high-quality extra-familial childcare services that are affordable and focus on elements fundamental to a child’s growth in the town and municipalities of canton Zug. We're well rooted in the canton Zug, in politics, the town council and in the professional field. As a leading institution in the field of supplementary family childcare, KiBiZ Kinderbetreuung Zug has enjoyed the trust of parents and the Zug municipalities for decades.

We are professional, goal-oriented, and structured in all areas of our work. For the care team the child’s well-being plays a central role.
Our care providers are extremely dedicated, well-trained, and supported in their roles. They understand their critical influence in a child's life and take that responsibility seriously and also suppor the child's development during their formative years. They know how the child's safety, emotional and physical wellbeing are of great importance. Our care providers try to facilitate various practices that challenge and support cognitive development, social competency, emotional intelligence, and creativity. Our programs are in a German-spoken environment.
We also offer services for children with special needs upon an individual basis. KiBiZ is certified by QualiKita and other accrediting agencies, which have demanding requirements that often go above and beyond our canton’s minimum licensing requirements for childcare centers.

KiBiZ Kinderbetreuung Zug is an institution of the Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft Zug GGZ. This was founded in 1884. Practising solidarity with the disadvantaged, sharing social responsibility and promoting personal responsibility are the central guidelines of the association. With its various institutions, the GGZ is firmly rooted in Zug society and is active in the areas of social welfare, education and culture, children and youth as well as health.

Wie schon lange bekannt, werden wir auf den Sommer das Betreuungsverhältnis mit unserer Tagesmutter auflösen. Mit einem weinenden Auge, da sie über all die Jahre unser Sechser im Lotto war und die Kinder sich jedes einzelne Mal aufs Neue gefreut haben zu ihr gehen zu dürfen. Es war das Beste, was uns diesbezüglich überhaupt passieren konnte. Kinder brauchen verlässliche und präsente Bezugspersonen und es klingt schon fast kitschig, aber es gibt tatsächlich nichts, was wir hätten ändern wollen, mit unserer Tagesmutter hat es einfach zu 100% gepasst, eine echte Bereicherung für unsere beiden Mädchen.

Ich habe grosses Vertrauen in die Arbeit der Mitarbeiterinnen (auch in dieser Kita üben vorwiegend Frauen diesen wichtigen Beruf aus) der KiBiZ Lorze. Mein Kind bringe ich im Wissen, dass es an diesem Ort gut aufgehoben ist. Den Kindern wird während der Betreuung wahnsinnig viel geboten, ihre eigenen Fähigkeiten werden geschätzt und gestärkt. Auch für die Eltern nehmen sich die Betreuerinnen bei Unsicherheiten und eigenen Beobachtungen gerne Zeit. Die Arbeitsbedingungen der Mitarbeiterinnen kann ich nicht beurteilen. Ich hoffe aber schwer, dass auch die Zufriedenheit der Betreuerinnen und insbesondere jene der Lernenden prioritär behandelt wird.

Tip nr. 1:
Finding the right day-care center
Which daycare is best for our child? Many parents ask themselves this question already during pregnancy. But how do you choose the right one? The range of childcare providers is large. And so are the differences. Proximity to your home or work can be an important aspect. But there are also attractive offers with foreign languages or long opening hours. Here are some tips on what to look out for:
Quality matters
When visiting a day-care center pay attention to the following quality criteria: how are the rooms presented and is there enough space for movement, does the daycare center have a child-friendly garden? How do they plan the settling-in phase? Do they attach importance to a good acclimatization so that the child can build up trust and a relationship with the caregivers? How is the staff trained and how is their professional loyalty and fluctuation? Can you trust the daycare center management, are they authentic and competent?
Try to find out how the children are encouraged and supported in their learning, especially in social learning. The pedagogical concept provides valuable information on their values. Do they work according to a mature concept that is scientifically supported and recognized?
Also relevant can be the value placed on a healthy diet. And last but not least, does the day-care center have a recognized quality label, e.g. QualiKita?
Therefore, while visiting a day-care center try to ask many questions, compare, get a good feeling of the atmosphere and last but not least: trust your gut.

Childminder or Day-care?
What are the differences and what advantages do the two models offer?
Childminder: individual and personal
A personal and familiar environment with only a small group of children- that's what children experience in a daycare family. They are looked after by the childminder and therefore only have one adult caregiver. The childminder usually has experience with children from having children of their own and is prepared for the role of a childminder through basic training. The advantage for parents is that flexible, individual childcare solutions are possible and ideally, a suitable daycare family can be found close to their home. A day family can also be a great solution for Kindergarten and primary school pupils for care over lunchtime or at off-peak times.
Day-care center: varied and exciting
Everyday life in a day-care center is a little livelier: the children have lots of playmates, the fields of activities are varied. For some children this can be a challenge, others feel right at home. The children are looked after by professionally trained staff. Although there are different carers, each child has a caregiver. The days are structured, the opening hours are fixed.
Combining both
In addition to needs regarding childcare times, parents need to assess where their child feels more comfortable: in a familiar, manageable setting or in an environment with lots of playmates and a varied programme? It is also possible to combine the two and thus benefit from the advantages of both services.

Day-care: Our care providers are qualified
It is obvious that parents want to know that their children are in the best hands while they are can’t look after them themselves.
A job for professionals
In a daycare center, two to three employees usually look after a group of ten to twelve children. Anyone who has looked after children themselves knows that even being responsible for just a few children can push you to your limits. Sufficient employees with a sound education, such as the specialised care specialists (FaBeKs) or early childhood educators (HFK) are therefore essential. KiBiZ also employs assistant staff, apprentices, HFK students and interns.
Important first years of life
The first few years of a child's life are crucial in terms of its general development and brain development. In order to develop their identity and their social and communicative skills, children need carers who are familiar, reliable and available. Professionally trained employees ensure that the individual needs of all children are met.
Diverse requirements
A smooth and careful acclimatisation is very important for a good start. Then different stages of development need to be taken into account such as requirements regarding the integration of a wide variety of children, some with special care needs or with a with a migration background and foreign-language parents. In this context cooperation and communication with parents is of great importance.

Play-based learning with a childminder
Many working parents appreciate the individual, flexible childcare times and the family environment that a daycare family can offer. But does this form of childcare provide children with sufficient and targeted support and encouragement in their development?
A variety of experiences
Thanks to their basic training and regular further training, childminders know what is important in childcare work. Numerous situations in the day-to-day life offer children the opportunity to experience and learn something new. The children are happy and proud when they are allowed to take responsibility for everyday tasks according to their age and interests.
This not only strengthens their independence, but they also learn new things all the time. While setting the table for example, they have to count how many place settings are needed. Fine motor skills are trained while stirring, beating eggs and measuring and at the same time, language and subject skills are always improved in all activities.
Children will also find stimulating materials for handicraft and painting in daycare families. Childminders also spend a lot of time outside. Whether spending time in the forest, garden or playground, fine and gross motor development is encouraged in a playful way.

How to finance?
Childcare has its price and not all can bear the high costs themselves. Support is available and municipalities can help to finance. The importance of being able to combine family and career is widely recognised and the Zug municipalities make contributions to supplementary family childcare. However, there are various subsidy systems.
Day-care centers: municipal differences
Many Zug municipalities award so-called childcare vouchers. The amount of these vouchers is based on the parents' ability to pay. The upper income limit for eligibility and the amount of the contribution vary from municipality to municipality. Depending on this, middle-class families can also benefit alongside low-income families. Parents can use the amount at a recognised daycare center of their choice.
Other municipalities have their own day-care centers and intend to follow the childcare voucher system soon. If you have any questions, it is best to inquire with your municipality.
Standardised for daycare families
Childcare in a daycare family is supported by the Zug municipalities according to a standardised subsidy model, based on the financial capacity of the parents. The childcare relationship must be handled by KiBiZ as the placement organisation.
Financial viability guaranteed
Parents should be able to afford childcare. Depending on the municipality, they may have to finance a higher proportion themselves or wait longer for a free place. However, most of Zug's municipalities have recognised how important it is to promote supplementary childcare services and are in the process of adapting their subsidy systems where necessary.

"Reggio" inspired pedagogy
We align with the "Reggio" approach, where every child is competent and strong in their abilities to learn. We believe in child-led learning and the value the child's peers play in their development.
We also value the physical space the child will be in for much of the day. Whether this is within a calm, neutral and organised classroom or if it's outside in nature or on the playground. We believe the environment has a great impact on the children's ability to learn and absorb the world around them so we have taken careful consideration and thought behind our center designs and the standards created for our childminders that open their home.
